Au Petit Chavignol

843 E. Hastings St. Vancouver   www.aupetitchavignol.com
Food Good-quality, fresh ingredients, but burger lacked flavour. Was there really a special sauce in there? Liked assortment of cheeses, some more potent than others. Disliked paying extra for add-ons
like lettuce.

Ambience Modern and mellow.

Service Amiable.

Value Good value. May return just to check out cheese store next door and the ping-pong club across the street.

Summing it up, eating at Au Petit Chavignol is like driving a Cadillac CTS (V-6 engine, minus the standard equipment) along UBC's Northwest Marine Drive and past Spanish Banks at dusk on a Sunday with Robert Downey Jr. in the passenger seat and 'Life is a Highway' playing on the radio. Ace Burger Bar

550 Nelson St. Vancouver   www.aceburgers.com
Food Burger reminded us of grandma's meatloaf. Tasty sauce though. Did the buns come from Safeway? Fries were a tad overcooked. Coke served in a bottle was cool, but were the square plates really necessary?

Ambience We kinda missed the Saved by the Bell, retro 80's decor of predecessor Sunset Burgers.

Service Friendly (freundlich).

Value Heh.

Summing it up, dining at Ace Burger Bar is like driving a Hyundai Veloster  in Guildford on a fair-weather day in light traffic, with Shia LaBoeuf in the passenger seat and Ace of Base's 'I saw the sign' playing on the radio. (Visited on Sept. 20, 2012).

Roxy Burger

910 Granville St. Vancouver   www.roxyburger.com
Food Tasty enough, but pretty standard burger. Bun was a little stale.

Ambience Pretty empty when we visited on a weeknight.

Service Very attentive.

Value Worth a drop-by if in downtown, but it's unlikely we would drive just to eat here -- parking is a bitch.

Summing it up, eating at Roxy Burger is like driving a used Chevy Cobalt SS along the beach with the window rolled down, a jerk playing loud music in the next lane, John Travolta in the passenger seat, and 'Hotel California' playing on the radio. (Visited on June 11, 2012).

Max's Burgers

521 W. 8th Ave. Vancouver   www.maxsburgers.ca
Food Reasonably tasty, but lacked coherent flavour. Bun had an odd sweetness to it.

Ambience Nice, open dining area.

Service Decent enough.

Value Will probably return, but not in a rush.

Summing it up, eating at Max's Burgers is like driving a current-generation Volkswagen Jetta or Passat in light, morning traffic on a blue-sky summer day with Alec Baldwin in the passenger seat and Bon Jovi's 'Livin' on a Prayer' on the radio. (Visited on May 2, 2012).
